MSU Science Festival: MSU Communication on Tap is Back!

  • UrbanBeat 1213 Turner Street Lansing United States (map)

Please join us April 26th 7-9 p.m. at UrbanBeat in Old Town Lansing
as part of the MSU Science Festival.

Our three speakers will be professors Geri Alumit Zeldes, Elizabeth Dorrance Hall, and Bruno Takahashi.

Specifically ...

Documentary Filmmaker and Journalism Professor Dr. Geri Alumit Zeldes will share a preview of her first book, "Flow & Flint Town: Mental and Musical Flows of Rap Artists in the City." She'll take you on a short journey into the history of hip-hop music in Flint and describe how these types of flow have ebbed and ... flowed.

Family and interpersonal communication researcher Dr. Elizabeth Dorrance Hall will share her insights into how communication can marginalize family members and how allies can support the resilience of family ‘black sheep.’

And ...

Environmental communication researcher Dr. Bruno Takahashi will discuss how immigrants conceptualize environmental issues and the role news media play in the process.

These are not academic lectures. They're meant to be enjoyable, informal conversations with the smart, caring faculty of MSU's College of Communication Arts and Sciences. We hope people from across the community will join us.

As always, Communication on Tap is sponsored by MSU's College of Communication Arts and Sciences' Health and Risk Communication Center and the Ellis N. Brandt Endowment.
