Several years ago, Elden discovered a hidden capacity of his electric classical guitar. Through a special MIDI connection, he is able to morph and turn the instrument into whatever sound he chooses, incorporating a broad palette of orchestral sounds and textures. Operating as he frequently does between the lines of composition and in-the moment creativity, the evening promises to be full of intrigue and surprise.
For the second half of the program--returning to his love of baroque and classical music, yet with an unexpected spin. Many great composers have also been acknowledged improvisational virtuosi: Bach, Mozart, Chopin etc. With this concept as a springboard, Elden creates variations on material by composers, taking the music into a genre-defying direction somewhere between the borders of jazz and classical and beyond.
